Ramana Maharshi (30 December 1879 – 14 April 1950) was male and a Hindu. But, now that you mention it, I think Ramana would be a pretty girl's name. Maharshi died of cancer. And, in addition to the quote mentioned above, Maharshi was known to have observed: "They say I am dying. But I will be here more alive than ever. Where else would I go?"
