WOW - so, I went out with an older acquaintance of mine whom I met 30 years ago. We used to go to concerts together along with his best friend, Matt.
Well, my close gf cancelled our New Years plans because she was sick. And so this older acquaintance of mine got in touch with me out of the blue and wanted to join me in my night out. So, I said yes. Well, he suffers from bipolar disorder, I learned while we were out and is frequently depressed. He also has struggled with drug addictions and has been in and our of rehab. I learned also while we were out that his 17 year-old daughter refuses to speak with him or see him and wants nothing to do with him. All night he insulted me - he sent little digs my way throughout the night. I sucked it up because I wanted to remain in a good mood and celebrate New Years properly. We were out listening to a band. But after several insults, I cut the night short before 11:30 PM and drove us back to my apartment. He had left his car at my place. We go inside and he proceeds to accuse me of being TOO happy and TOO positive!!! I was astounded to say the least. How can anyone be too happy? If I exude happiness & positivity, well excuse me for feeling joyful!!!! I was SO insulted by this final blow that I kicked him out of my apartment and asked him to promptly leave, telling him I don't need this crap. I am SO done with toxic people! I was very frustrated & upset over this negative experience.

Well, I got over it. I’m just not going to talk to that person again.

Guess I spoke too soon. He contacted me to tell me he has a lot to learn about speaking to women, after hanging out with me. I don't even know what to say to that - like, yes, you do, in fact, have a lot to learn.
I had forgotten but one of his insults was about having a cat and being single again. Because I care about my cat and wanted my cat to meet him, he said "are you going to be a crazy cat lady?" WTF - where did he get that from? I was offended.

Where did you find this guy. He’s so rude. He has no business meeting your cat or go to your house. Block him

He is a good friend of someone I used to work with back in '94. I met him 30 years ago. He is rude! I still cannot believe the crap that came out of his mouth at me.

I thought the same thing! It must be envy, right? To have to put me down in that way?

He sounds like he has poor social skills to me. I wouldn’t engage with him- there’ll likely be more of the same.
