Today I am quitting smoking cigs, yet again. I have been smoking all of my adult life, but I have tried quitting many times.
This time around, it's because of the expense, in addition to taking care of my health. It now costs $14 per pack where I live! At 1 pack per day, that's nearly $400 a month I am spending! WOW. The necessity to save that money is forcing me in this direction right now. I know this will be hard. But I also know that I can do it because I've tried before and quit once for a year. Anyone else quitting this year? Or in the new year? I could use some support, if so. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

Yeah, it is a huge change to quit smoking... make sure you give yourself extra TLC and self-care during this time.
Allen Carr's book "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" really helped me. I would highly recommend it. He says to keep smoking if you are still smoking while reading the book... Keep posting and let us know how you are doing!! You got this!! |

You got this, Hope!!
You will see you smoking symptoms will clear up!! When you have a craving, just imagine the nicotine leaving your body, which it is. In 3 days the nicotine will have left your system. The rest is mental... think about getting the Carr book, if you find yourself in need of a boost, psychologically... he's written a very good book that deconstructs our reasons for smoking. |

So far so good! I've only had minor cravings at the end of each day and they have passed quickly. It's the weekends when I am home and during my down time that may be the hardest. I like your suggestion - that may help. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

DAY 4!
The only times I have had a craving are right after work and right after I get up in the morning. But it passes!!! I love that the craving is short-lived. I can do this!!! __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

You're doing a great job!
I'm sadly a nicotine junkie myself, except I vape instead of smoke. I've tried quitting the evil nicotine many times, sometimes successfully and sometimes not. You're having a much easier time than I did! Good luck! __________________ The darkest of nights is followed by the brightest of days. |

I've quit before and have vaped instead. The vape eventually gave me a nasty cough, so I went back to smoking cigs. Now I am trying to quit without a vape. I have been smoking some herb at the end of my work day to help. It does seem to help. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |
