I woke up sad as usual but i ended up putting on a sad movie to watch so i didn’t feel like crying for nothing. It was cathartic but not nearly enough

I haven’t watched this movie in a very very long time, i remember the first time i watched it as a teenager and it didn’t affect me nearly as much as it does now. It made me miss being a kid and having a movie or book be just that.

I would like to watch another movie from my childhood but even the happier ones seem to affect me differently

Yes, movies, music and such can be quite cathartic... especially those from certain era of our lives.
