I think that I have dependent personality disorder. Lately, I have been feeling scared about being able to take care of myself. What can I do to feel less scared?

If you think you have the disorder it is best to go to your doctors. Take someone with you if it makes you feel a little safer.

Well, you could write about why you think you have then take the notes with you? Say you are afraid of looking after yourself because of ... .

Here's a few - just in general - self help strategies from a Blog here on PC:

A blog I found recommends sharing your thoughts and feelings. So congrats, I believe that you are already making this step by

a) Making this post here
b) Discussing your feelings in this post
c) Actively anticipating a response

Self-Help

Self-help methods for the treatment of this disorder are often overlooked by the medical profession because very few professionals are involved in them. Suggesting such a support group later in treatment, to help put some of their new skill sets to use in a group setting, may be helpful. Many support groups exist within communities throughout the world which are devoted to helping individuals with this disorder share their commons experiences and feelings.
Individuals should likely avoid using a support group as the only means of treatment for this disorder, since it is likely to encourage additional dependent relationships.

I think you should also read these.

They discuss how to independently take care of yourself, the necessary steps you can take:

And an interesting article on anxiety, if you begin to feel a bit overwhealmed by it all, you might be able to practice these techniques:
