I used to love to sing. At open mic nights, in a group of friends (which usually involved someone with a guitar and some other random array of instruments) In the last 4 or so years I'm almost completely lost interest in it. For me, depression didn't hit me like a ton of bricks, but came on slowly making itself apparent through my increasing lack of interest in things I used to love. I'm not completely healed yet and I still have my ups and downs, but I have noticed some encouraging improvements. Yesterday I bought a studio mic and downloaded some new audio editing software, and I sang for a while. It felt great and I can slowly feel my passion coming back. Very promising.

This is really encouraging. I took singing lessons in junior high and high school, recieving state awards. When depression hit I couldnt imagine getting in front of a crowd and singing, it wasnt really that easy before. A few weeks back I did some karaoke with a friend. It wasnt a very easy song but we pulled it off. I had the feeling afterwards that this was a real sign of progress for me in beating my depression and I look forward to more fun singing again. Im happy for you. I think it takes courage to sing for other people and theres something in the sense of accomplishment that boosts confidence and a sense of well being. I hope you continue to work towards your own sense of freedom and happiness
