Reading the symptoms of dep. in men I see I have some of them. Drinking too much, irritability, lack of energy or motivation at times. I've outgrown the really bad part that I went through from 20 to 50 years. As I look back at my life it's just the way I've always been and I'll probably just continue on as I don't have much more than 10 years left. I have many stimulating interests that keep me active.
Thanks for this!

I have a similar history although I had other things going on in addition to depression. I guess I've aged out of some of the worst of it too although I still struggle with anger & irritability. My main interest nowadays seems to be being here on PC. I'm hopeful I don't have another 10 years left...

YOu should try the medication route. It worked for me many years ago. AND be sure to examine what you are telling yourself. IS it sensible or is it exaggerated, unrealistic, calling things terrible when they are only unpleasant. Are you telling self you shouldn't have problems? Why shouldn't you? are you somehow different than the rest of us? This is called RET Rational Emotive Therapy. It's not the total answer but it will help anyone with their feelings.
