I am so tired of the pity me feeling in my gut. I go to work and bust my arse every day...called off once in three years...and now LAID OFF...WTF
It seems as though once I start getting a handle on my life and begin to be happy in it, something comes and shoots me right out of the air. I just want to be happy and live life....why is the universe against me?

On the one hand, your desire not to be mired in self-pity is commendable. On the other, you've suffered a major life trauma, and mourning your loss is natural and probably necessary in order for you to move on. Do allow yourself to mourn; you certainly won't get any grief from me nor from many others here.

When you are able, exploit any and every form of assistance available.
