Well i saw my GP today. We talked and i have been given some Citalopram. Whatever that is . I felt so ashamed being in there talking with the GP and being given this. But at the same time vindicated as well after all the flak given by my former friends. I guess i have made a start...

It's always so hard to take that first step but you have done it so be proud of yourself. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you would like to learn more about your med you can click on the drugs tab at the top of the page and search for it, there is a lot of handy information there.

Good Day, Josie Sullivan! Citalopram is the generic name of Celexa, the trade name for an antidepressant (AD) drug of the SSRI class. You can read about it at PC or many other places on the Web.
Here's PC's general article on Antidepressant Medications. Keep in mind that AD meds generally take some time (several weeks) to reach full effectiveness for most people. Also, because we're talking brain chemistry, effects can be highly individual. What works for one depressive may be totally wrong for another. Hopefully, you'll start to feel some relief soon. If not, don't give up. Keep track of suspected effects and side effects and inform your GP. You've got to work together as a team. Best wishes for success! ![]() PS: Gimmeice beat me to it... ![]()

The first time I saw my doctor about my depression, I was terrified. I had no idea what to expect. Now, just over a year later, I rarely experience depression symptoms and when I do, they aren't anywhere near as bad as they once were. It's a long road, but you just took your first steps, so good for you! Keep us posted on how you're doing. ![]()

Well my former friends are at the moment engaging in a smear campaign against me on the net. It really is most upsetting. Once the charity walk is over i think things will get easier. But they are doing everything they can think of to make me stay away. But i am not going to let their smear campaign stop me from doing my own thing. I WILL do this. But this time next year i hope their names and actions will be a distant memory.
Thank God there are such friendly people here who genuinely understand. ![]() |

Thank you. One of my former friends is bi polar and would have thought she would be more understanding and not call people a liar when "comming out" with depression. Anyway she sank to a new low last nightr by pretending to text another person about giving away a gift i gave her to another friend. I think that is so mean and below belt. She may be ill but there is no excuse for that sort of behaviour which is so clearly childish and below the belt. Grrrr !
![]() My real life friends were right, i am better off without them, they clearly have no concept of what friendship is about. ![]() ![]() |
