I've been dealing with clinical depression for a while and two psychiatrists diagnosed me with ADD. Besides this, my therapist claims I have schizoid personality disorder.
Since I moved home a few months ago, I've been experiencing this new sensation. Sometimes I see little three dimensional blue orbs floating around. Other times I see white swirls and waves going around whatever area I'm in; other times it's just black shadows floating around. I also sometimes see my room fill up with these dark sparkly lights when I'm in bed, or I see weird white patterns on my walls/door, on top of seeing inky blobs and flashing red/orange lights floating around my room. These things always catch my attention. Since beginning 300 mg of Wellbutrin a week or so ago, it's gotten even worse. I see little red lights on top of the blue lights, and when I play guitar I see what I can only describe as particles of energy buzzing around my hand--like little flies attracted to my hand while I play. I don't want to jump the gun with this. Maybe it's just a symptom of some of the psychedelic drugs I used while I was in college. I never experienced these things while on those drugs, though. There were never any images associated with them--just sensations. Two possibilities: migraines or seizures. But I don't have the same visuals that accompany these. I also don't ever have any kind of memory loss or headaches. My visuals also seem to get stronger at night. I don't think any of the professionals I'm dealing with are diagnosing me correctly. It all varies so much, and this is causing even more problems for me. Before I jump from Wellbutrin to Adderall or whatever, I'd like to actually know if I have ADD. I don't think this is it. I feel like my lack of motivation is from my depression more so than from some sort of attention deficit problems. Sorry if this doesn't go with this particular forum. I don't know where else to put it. |

There are certainly several different explanations for what you are experiencing.
The condition probably has a medical origin, but I hope you'll keep your mind open to other possibilities. Perhaps, for whatever reason, you now possess a different level of awareness than you did before and you are now perceiving things that other people do not see yet are nonetheless real. It might be scary, but try to limit your emotional reactions. Try to understand your perceptions with some objectivity, if possible. Of course, you should pursue whatever medical advice that you feel is worthwhile.

This may not be a very "scientific" answer, but have you considered that you may be experiencing things in the spiritual world, perhaps as a result of your meds making you more sensitive?
I have similar experiences, and have learned to tell things to leave and it actually gets better. You may want to even talk to a psychic. I know, I sound like a nutjob, but that's my advice. ![]() |

I had the same stuff happening when I was on Serazone. And worse. Check with your pdoc, because something might not be functioning correctly with your meds. Remember, it is often very individual how your body will respond to them, so it is important you let your pdoc know about every strange thing that happens when you start a new drug. Take care and hope it works out.

If it makes you feel any better I have experienced ALL of the sensations that you have. It's been years since most of them, although when I'm under extreme stress they temporarily return. This is not to suggest that YOU may not have a real physical issue that your doctor should need to be aware of but I know mine were personally stress driven. I thought for years that I had some kind of brain tumor. The colored lights, that strange "energy" you spoke of buzzing around like flies. It happened to me when looking up at the sky mostly, I don't believe I ever saw it on my hands. They were freaky, but for me, harmless. Good luck.
