Yes I think people can have panic attacks and not be depressed. Have you tried any relaxation therapies for the panic attacks?? It's normal to feel very scared and even think you're in danger of dying but they won't hurt you. When you realize this- it disarms the panic. I hope the medicine helps you and best of luck.

Therapy has helped me more with my near panic attacks than any medication did.
Thanks for this!

I agree with lynn P. and Mike J.

In my experience, the panic ruled my world for a good year or so. I was in therapy throughout. Medication didn't help me at all, which was fine because I panicked about taking meds too. LOL! What truly helped me overcome my intense fear was acceptance.

Accepting that I was having a panic attack...I was okay, and going to be just fine. I'd repeat those words to myself over and over for as long as it took for my heart to ease the hard & fast pumping. Tingles throughout my body would slowly go away. The fear began hitting less intensely and less often. I noticed that, and used that fact to refer to when I told myself that I'd be okay. Yes, it did take some time and dedication to do the same thing every time, but it worked beautifully for me!

"I am okay...It is okay...I am going to be fine...It will go away"
Repeat these truths over and over (and over again) until the intense fear lessens.

Absolutely BRILLIANT (((Shezbut))) - bravo to you. That's the key - acceptance disarms the panic like a skud missile and calms you down.
