I have been feeling like crap, even if it's not diagnosed as depression. It looks like it to other people. Not saying it is that!!!

I have no trouble falling asleep because I'm so tired all the time. Problem is I can't stay asleep. I wake up every hour or so. It used to be every 2 hours, but got worse recently. I've ruled out quite a possibilities as to why, and then my dear husband got the great idea to get some brazil nuts for selenium because we haven't had any lately. Turns out selenium relates to sleep - I didn't know that. I had always used brazil nuts as a mood booster based on recommendations in this useful book:

http://www.amazon.ca/Food-your-Mirac.../dp/0060984244

I have no idea why homeopathy appears on that webpage. This book is not about that. Anyway, I got some brazil nuts today and am hoping to sleep better. But then I thought I'd post this as well in case brazil nuts or the book might be helpful for anyone else.

Wish me luck . . . and good sleep.

I am having this problem right now but it's caused by one of the meds I just started taking.

Hope it gets better for you. I know it leaves you exhausted.

So, I slept a bit better. Woke up 4 times, after intervals of 1.5, 2.5, 1.5 and 1 hour. Then the alarm woke me up. Other things I did besides the brazil nuts were some B-vitamin supplementation (nutritional yeast), having a happy day with good news, and telling myself before sleep to focus on breath and relaxation while sleep. Like giving my brain instructions as one would do for lucid dreaming. It works a bit sometimes. I will have to keep up with this and see what makes a difference over time.

Still researching sleep here. Holy cow, I found out that human growth hormone promotes deep sleep and vice versa. Positive feedback. The best I have slept in the past 10 years was when I was deadlifting once a week, my husband says, and he remembers better than I do. I had to quit over a year ago because of an injury. But I did some weightlifting today, and I'll be doing more, building up. This should help. I got into swimming this year and the little bit of lifting has just tapered off to nothing. I feel hopeful.

Do you have difficulty getting to sleep, falling asleep, both, or something else?
