I was looking on google for stuff about mental illness, and a question on yahooanswers came up, and it said; "Are people with mental illness actually people?" And it really hurt because I feel inhuman most of the time, but now Im worried it's true.people with mental illnesses are people, aren't they?

As far as I'm concerned, mental illness gives a person greater depth and complexity, usually making them more interesting people than they might otherwise be.

So many "normal" people are really pretty boring and shallow. Their opinion has very little value for me.

That person's just mean and insentive. Of course you are 'people'!! I think there are bullies on the internet more so than IRL - it's too easy to type mean comments and hide behind computer screens. You know how people can leave comments for music videos on Youtube. It bugs me the way someone writes bad comments, when the singer is great and beautiful. Don't let that ridiculous comment bother you - they're less of a person for saying such an ignorant comment.

We sure are people. Many famous people suffer from mental illnesses. There will always be people that will look down on us but lack of understanding will do that to people. You are as good as the next person and don't let anyone tell you you are not. Peace - Dennis

Many of my biggest heroes have suffered from mental illness, particularly depression. I would like to place some of those artistic, academic and political geniuses in front of whoever made that comment and ask who is more "human", the ones who have actually contributed to the human experience at large despite highly debilitating illnesses, or the prejudiced jerk on the other side of a computer screen belittling the experiences of others.

You are a person. We all are. Don't let the bullies of the world tell you otherwise.

People are people, regardless of age, race, color, orientation, creed, capacity, whatever.
Anyone who thinks they can decide who is and is not a person is playing a dangerous game.
You are a person, I am a person and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
