good news i guess (but scary!)
went to local GP for check up on some rash (think its something to do with hay fever),she did a body check and saw the scars on my arm.my gp is the nicest person in the world (im lucky lol) so she asked if everything was ok etc etc..so i finally got it out that me and my T dont get on.and we had a chat about things and she said she'd contact the centre asking them to refer me to a different therapist which i'd get on better with. was a bit unexpected but im so glad somethings finally been done - even if i didnt intend it to(: (sorry if in wrong thread jus wanna pop it in here)also question - is there a difference between psychotherapist/pyschologist (sp) and a therapist?sorry if theyre all the same or all different lol very confused.. thanks for reading, hope your all doing well ^_^ ![]() ![]() |

Yaaaaaay! I'm delighted to hear that someone has reached out and is helping you get a helpful T instead of one who's not beneficial to you. Good luck and I hope things work out with the new T!
The differences: A psychologist is only trained to council people and does stuff like talk therapy A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD) and can write prescriptions for medication I'm not sure what the qualifications are to be a therapist but they're not as strict as either of the other two if I remember correctly

That is AWSOME news, the right therapist can save you (I know mine has saved me) the wrong one can do more harm than good.
And it's so individual, my therapist is great for me, but might be horrible at treating someone else.

Thanks for the replies (: it's a relief to know I'm going to talk to someone different who I'll hopefully get slog better with ^_^
I asked the other question because my gp asked me what my Ts name once and I said dr holmes and she said no your therapist . Does that mean I haven't been talking to a therapist at all?so confused .. |

My surmise is Dr. Holmes is a psychiatrist. Hope the therapist connects with you and your sessions become much more productive.
Good luck, Carrie. |

Some therapists (again, if I am remembering correctly) are not Medical Doctors and so they don't go by the title of "Doctor So-and-So." She probably thought that was the case, and you were referring to a psychiatrist or general practitioner. That's really just a guess though.

Oh Carrie, so pleased for you! I hope your next therapist will be a better match. I know how it feels to not really connect with your therapist, I don't with mine but nothing is being done ... glad to hear you have been given the chance to change, though!! Keep us updated with how it goes
