My Dad has never wanted to do much but ignore my depression. Today over dinner I brought up the courage to bring it up again. He told me I just needed to get over it. This time I didn't shy away from the subject for the first time and I told him I needed help and if he wouldn't help me I would seek it from the teachers at school or my Aunts. With this being said he finally gave in and said "Okay fine, get your help, I just don't think it's gonna do anything but whatever you want to do."
I'm so happy right now. He might not really see my problems exactly but at least he has shown some sort of cooperation. I just wanted to give an update and thank those who have given me some advice. I've only been here for a few days and just talking out my problems on these forms have done a lot. So thanks! I'll keep updating as anything new comes up!

Littleforgetmenot that is excellent! I think that is wonderful and you should be proud of yourself. When your dad sees the difference in you he'll be pleased. You're so young and you should be enjoying your life...hopefully soon you will,

Congratulations, you showed big courage and really stuck up for yourself, it's important that you fight for yourself especially when those around you aren't doing it. I'm glad your dad has listened finally, even if he doesn't understand, he possibly will in time. I wish you lots of luck! You're very brave deciding to get help, but it really is the best decision x
