Clinically speaking, since my late teens. [diagnosed with long standing treatment resistant depression partly in retrospect.] But I was anxious right from birth [due to birth trauma and everything around that] and not emotionally well all through my childhood.

I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago, although in retrospect, I think I have had it before, just not diagnosed.

From the sounds of it, I have been dealing with the symptoms since I was about 27, so almost 2 full years.

Well it started when I was 12. I'm 17 now, but I consider myself to be "recovering" or whatever the correct term is for someone who has hopefully beaten depression.

I have just recently started being depressed. And I totally agree with NatureFreak's quote- I had to be one of the few strong ones during my two-times-in-a-row moves from Kansas to Texas, and I think that that is a major factor in my depression.

Roughly six years now. It started when I started middle school at around age 11, things have gotten better but the speed of progress is painfully slow.

I've never been happy. I think I've felt this way for my whole life. I can't remember ever being normal.

I'm 60 now and have dealt with depression my entire life, but have learned over the years how to reclaim some of what it has taken from me; it's worth the fight. lynn09

Pdoc says I had mild episodes of depression as a younger child. Didn't know until my 50's that my first major depressive episode was at age 14. Depression has darted in and out of my life all these years.
