Feeling down and stupid right now. I was supposed to get an ECT treatment done today, but I forgot about the "no eating beforehand" rule and ate something. I called the hospital about it, and they said not to bother coming in. So I'm missing this week's ECT treatment! How could I have done something so stupid?

Greetings,

If the situation you just described is what makes one truly dumb, well, then, we all are stupid. For, such mistakes happen. The best thing one can do when it happens to him/her is to not stress, try to stay positive, and do all that needs to be done to fix it. After all, wallowing in the mud after you have slipped and fell in it, only procrastinates you getting up, moving forward, and most importantly, truly feeling better.

Have a good one.

Hello, and thanks for replying. I must have been feeling very down on myself when I did the original post, because I do know that mistakes don't make a person stupid. I apologize for posting like that, and I hope I didn't offend anyone!

I ended up going out and doing some errands around town with my dad, then I jogged/walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. This made me feel a lot better.

Dear Melissa,

Please don't be so hard on yourself. It is totally natural to simply forget. Take care of yourself today.
These things just happen, to everybody...

Hugs,

E

Do not be so harsh on you everyone makes mistakes and it is not as if this is a bad choice or poor choice it was a lapse in the memory

The need and desire for food can at times overtake many things so take yourself a deep breath and look to the next appointed time for the treatment

You are not foolish, I have read many of your messages of support for others and they show a wonderful heart and a keen mind

Maybe it was part of the forgetting that sometimes happens with ECT also????

You have also just started with these treatments & haven't gotten into the pattern that you will when it becomes more of a consistant happening in your life also.

I am forever forgetting what day it is & what I have going on that day & I have never had ECT. I have to keep an organizer notebook with me at all times to know what I have to do next it seems. I even forgot my psychologist appointment a few weeks ago & I never forget that....but I had my truck repair on my mind & not my psychology appointment.....I was sitting in the garage with my truck just to remember that my appointment was the previous hour.

We all goof up at times.....we are all human.....mistakes happen & life goes on so we can catch up at a later date for the things we have to do but miss......my motto has definitely become......."there is always tomorrow".

Glad you got some errands done & some needed exercise to make yourself feel better......all will work out in the end.

You're not stupid, you're human. Wonder why they don't call you to remind you, or the doctor's office bother to do that

I think our meds and obsessive thinking of trivial things makes us miss some of the important things we should be thinking about or remembering. I can't remember **it. lol. I just have to laugh about it cause what else can I do? I hate forgetting. I wish I could forget the bad stuff instead of the important stuff. Oh well, guess this does not help much but just know we all do it.
