I think it's part of the depression. I cry in my sleep..and have horrible nightmares. When I was in my teens..I would scream in my sleep. I think its depression and stress.

I don't think I've ever cried in my sleep, though I've screamed out several times, and, Kimmy, I have also done the clawing my face in sleep, and have had scratch marks. It's very disconcerting.

I've waken up crying, begging for the dreams to stop. There have been times when a dream like that has dropped me into a state that has left me so depressed that I've wanted shall we say a more permanent end to the dreams. The dreams (nightmares really) have been that horrible and so much like the life of abuse I'm trying hard to get away from that I wonder if it is ever going to stop. Thankfully meds have helped with the dreams too . . .

Ozzie, a while back in therapy I was working on allowing myself to feel angry. That's an emotion I try hard to stuff because I lived in fear of it as a child.

Once we got the anger down, we started working on getting angry at my mother, who abused me.

I have NO idea what I was dreaming except that my mother was in it, but one morning I woke up to find myself punching the pillow and screaming at the top of my lungs "F YOU! F YOU! F YOU!"

LOL think I was getting some anger out at my mother? Post deleted by ozzie

Since we have been working on the abuse in therapy, I have begun dreaming much, more more, not so much nightmares as recurring themes -- my parents are angry at me, my dad always sends me away, back to my mom, etc. I seem really to be dredging some stuff up. I really think our minds process things in the nighttime that we won't or can't face during the day.

Hope you feel better soon.

Candy

I agree with Candy on this, and in an odd sort of way, it's healthy. Our subconscious knows exactly what's going on IMHO no matter how hard we try to suppress the things we can't handle.

Sorry to hear it's upsetting you Ozzie, but at least it's a way of letting out some sadness.

Good thoughts, M

Sorry you were crying in your sleep. It must be kinda scarey when you can't remember what you were crying about in your sleep. Maybe your birthday is an anniversary for something really sad that happened for you. ????
I can't stand it when I wake up depressed because of a dream. Especially when I can't remember it. REALLY frustrating.
I hope you and your hubby can work these things out. It's nice that you have each other for support.
This is for everyone who's had disturbing dreams

I would double check your anti-depressant's information page... many of the new brain meds DO cause nightmares and intense dreams... usually they subside after a week or two (for new med.) My lunesta (sleep med) had to be reduced by 1/3 because of the horrendous 'mares.

((((sweet dreams))))
