I feel so down. Surely a process that makes people feel so awful about themselves can't be right or helpful. I understand the need for evaluating progress but Ofsted just goes beyond that. A week before christmas hols and the Head retiring - WHY?????? I am weepie and anxious, don't really thibk I'm cut out for this job at all.

im sorry you are feeling so down - you must have liked the head for it to have affected you - can you be glad that he or she is now hainvg tie for themselves ? maybe the next head will be equally as good - or almost as good at least.

I dont now what Ofsted is - but i do know that in therapy often it gets worse before it gets better - maybe this is the same?

I hope things iprove for you soon (by the way i went to somerset once and it was lovely there )

Ofsted is the board in the UK that evaluates teachers and schools. So i can imagine it must be difficult having them around, especially now when things are kind of up in the air!
Remember why you went into the job in the first place, really concentrate on that, make sure you do other things thats you enjoy outside of work, to treat yourself and to get away!
stay strong, they wont be there forever!

Thank you for your replies
Phoenix - I am pleased for the Head just sad they've decided to come a week before she retires. I think there's a bit of a hidden agenda as it's a small rural school with falling roll and a massive deficit in the economy to sort out!!! The whole Ofsted process just feels so paralysing for me as I know it does for many other teachers. You're right Widget - they come, they judge, they leave and we've just got to get on with the job. Having spent all day yesterday tweeking the paper work to get it right I just felt really down. I have my interview with the lead inspector at 8.30 friday morning - fingers crossed!!!!!
