I know this is awful of me, but when I feel like crap, it feels so much better to spread it around to people who I feel don't deserve to be happy. I'm not talking about loved ones, but yesterday I wrote something on someone's wall that was very embarrasing to them, but I couldn't help myself. He, of course, unfriended me. I know some of what I said wasn't even true, but I wrote it anyway. I do have reason to be resentful of this person, I don't hurt totally innocent people, and he's probably forgotten all about it, but I think I made him look like a fool and I'm glad! Am I an awful person for doing this?

Hi, Kiffygirl0793!
Rather that approach this from a perspective of judgment, perhaps it would be more valuable to investigate and analyze the feelings and actions. You mention one recent incident. Can you remember when it was you first started having such feelings and reacting to them in this way?

Kiffygirl,
It seems insightful of you that you know you're doing what you said. I don't think it means you're "awful." But if you know your intentions were hurtful, and it sounds like you don't want to act that way, maybe you'll feel better if you can figure out why you do it, like Rohag said. |
