It's just all a bit much today. I'm ready to ship the kids off to their dad (too bad I don't have an address yet). There's just WAY too much noise in here. The living room is TRASHED with toys. I wish I could at least take the dogs for a walk in peace and quiet, but no, I still have both kids with me. I can't wait for at least th eolder one to go back to school tomorrow.
Right now I just want to disappear.

Don't get me wrong, I love my kids more than anything, but every now and then I do need a break.

And see the world without your sorrow
Where no one knows the pain you left behind
And all the peace you could never find
Is waiting there to hold and keep you
Welcome to the first day of your life

Just open up your eyes as I lay you down tonight
Safe on the other side
No more tears to cry

Yes, you deserve and NEED a break. Try to make getting that break a priority.

I'm on the other side of those years. Now, when I get nostalgic, I have to trash the room myself -- but I've lost the heart and energy for it.

Thanks! Got the room picked up some, kids are watching Sprout, and I'm about to start dinner. The little guy didn't nap today, so he's pretty cranky too.
I can't wait for everyone to go to bed, then I'll do my exercise video and then relax a while.
At least things have settled down for now. Luckily, the dogs have been for a nice walk this morning, or they'd be bouncing off the walls too.

Things didn't stay calm long. But now dinner is over, the little guy is in bed, the older one is watching tv, the living room has been picked up, the dishwasher is running, the dogs have been fed and are outside, the cats' food and water bowls have been filled up and the litter boxes scooped out. I'm exhausted from all the stress today, and feeling pretty low. I need to get some housework done, all three bathrooms need cleaned, the kitchen needs cleaned, the living room needs cleaned, I need to vacuum all over, my old doggie needs a good brushing, and I need to go pick up the dogpoop in the yard. Too much to do, and I'm too tired.

It feels like it never ends. Even if I get it all done tonight (which I wont'), it'll start all over in a few days. It feels like, what's the point? I really just want to curl up and cry, and maybe indulge in some si.

Oh yeah, and to make things better, for some reason my 8 year old is on this "let's open all the windows" kick. So he opened the window in the family room downstairs, and right when we sat down for dinner, he realized that one of our (indoor) cats was outside. So we got to hunt her down and bring her back in. But my son still hadn't closed the window like I told him to, so the cat got out again. Had to go catch her again. This just has been one great day.

I missed my husband's call this morning. He called from Bagram while I was walking the dogs. He said he'd try again later, but I guess he didn't get the chance to. Must be quite hard to get to a phone today, with everyone wanting to call home.

I'm bummed. I would have really liked to talk to him today.

I'm so sorry Those are the calls you don't want to miss. Regardless of technology, it's not always easy to speak to loved ones 9-12 hours ahead of you. Are you at least in e-mail contact?
