My parents do the same. I think we need to realise that they don't hate us, they just care. What makes you think they hate you? Thinking of you.

Perhaps it would be more cause for concern if they stopped?

Depends on what they are saying......being a parent....it's important for parents to talk & try to figure out ways to help when they know there is a problem. Shows that they care.....like Byz says....more to worry about when they stop talking or don't bother to talk because they don't care. At least when they are talking you know they care.

Ariesmars, did you catch what they were saying, or was it too triggering?
I'm sorry about the 24%. Here's hoping it will rise in the coming days. ![]() ![]()

People are afraid of what they do not understand, and as a result often redicule it.

Sorry you heard this and it is supsetting for you. Are you in T? Would be good to talk to a therapist about it.
I overheard one of my college roommates talking negatively about me to our resident advisor, who looked after everyone on the floor. It was very negative--obviously she didnt like me, was jealous of me, and things I was doing were irritating her. I learned to treat her better and changed my behaviour as a result of that. I didn't like hearing it, but I put it to good use. Hope you wll find a way to generate some good out of what you heard. Maybe it will be just be an understading of the limits of your parents. I've always maintained gossip is about the gossipee, not the gossiper. In his case, what your parents said is more a reflection on them and their views, than about you. If you don't feel you are a worthless loser, then you aren't. Having them say it doesn't make it so. Hugs to you! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Your parents of all people should understand you & what you are dealing with. Your T needs to talk with them & give them a better understanding of you. It seems as though your parents have absolutely NO understanding of how your mental state effects you & your life & how you are able to function.
Parents with good understanding of what you are going through with the mental illness you are dealing with & trying to learn how to function in this world with would NEVER express that you are "worthless". NO ONE is WORTHLESS.....we all have our strengths & weaknesses & our abilities which give us VALUE. God has a purpose for everyone in this world no matter what our disability is.....sometimes is just takes some of us longer to find our place in life. Parents need to have that kind understanding & patience & acceptance of who you are & limitations do not define anyone as being WORTHLESS. You are NOT WORTHLESS!!!!!!!! Definitely need to have your T work with your parents to teach them a better understanding of who you are.
