I got fired today. I was working in a group home and fell asleep on the overnight shift. Even though I was fired from twenty-one jobs now, I still feel I can work. I was a teacher for 4 years the only reason that stopped was more teachers with certification signed up on the sub list. So I can do it!! I had a heads up that this was happening..I had a few days to brace myself..what hurt the most was the tone of the supervisor, she seemed personally attacked. Also I will miss my residents they were sweet. In some ways I'm glad I will have more time now. In some ways I could feel my mental illness lurking in the background and when they said I was doing a good job I wanted to scream, "Im mentally ill though!!" I was fired so many times I don't know how not to get fired. As a substitute teacher you can start all over a afresh every day. I am good one of the times I was fired it was simply cause I's worked there before I actually did nothing wrong. All different reasons, all saying I'm good at my job until doom day. This hurts. I'm going to miss the sweet little residents.

I'm so sorry that happened, but I'm glad you know you're good at your job. I think it's an accomplishment to be told, "You're doing a good job," as opposed to, "You're doing a good job for someone with a mental illness," even if it sucks that they don't understand what you're going through.

Junerain...Sorry about losing your job. But am glad to read here that you have a job interview soon.
Glad you are not just sitting around waiting for a job to come to you...but that you are seeking a new place of employment.
Keep believing in yourself!

PS I have had so many jobs that at times my family still teases me about all the places I worked. I brush it off but inside it hurts because it was my illness and my depression that would ultimately be a factor in me leaving or being fired. So I can relate. But do hang in there!

I hope that goes well. I'm sorry about your other job. I was once fired from a job that I really couldn't do well. It still stung, but it was a relief for me to not have that pressure.

I'm glad you are looking at this from a positive place. Go rock that interview!

Take care,

gg

hey, i hope the interview worked out It's slipping from underneath my sanity i've had to leave loads of jobs through illness, primarily bipolar but also related ME type illness, and it sucks. i hate nothing more than not being occupied, and i feel all wrong without work, but when i do it, i get ill. it's awful, so i really feel for you xx
