I don't know if this belongs here but...
When I am really depressed and anxious, my senses seem to become rally heightened. In particular I am very affected by sound and smell. They are both really really awful but at the moment it is smell.
Everything smells bad. I am constantly afraid that I have body odour and have to constantly apply deodorant, shower, etc. It's hard because the weather is still warm here. Of course, being anxious makes me sweat more too.
But it isn't just me I think smells bad. Everything else does too. The room, the street, other people, objects.... Everything smells like sewerage and rot. Even clean places. Even flowers and fresh things like clean laundry.

Is this weird? I can totally understand being sensitive to sound but smell?

For me its sound....everything sounds so much louder even though I have a slight hearing loss anyway. The t.v. starts to blare and seems to go right thru my head. If I am out the whole world seems to be screaming....Odd!

Oh and sweating.....I take meds for anxiety but when I get anxious I don't have the ususal feeling in my stomach, it comes out in profuse sweating anytime. Now that really is a pain. It took a while before I realized it was anxiety and not something else! Yes, then I go home and sometimes have to take a shower as I smell so sweaty like I was digging ditches all day.

mmm..the sound for me is more when I'm anxious or in a mixed state too. I've caused a lot of arguements over noise levels in the hhouse, even when they might be at reasonable levels for other people! I actually stomped upstairs my mum was having when I was still living with my parents - someone was banging away on the piano - I yelled at them all to stop that racket. I was so angry. It was awful. So dreadful for everyone to witness too.

The smell thing...I wonder if I should tell my psych about that one. It is very disturbing for me.

I have found that candles help me with this. Try to find one that smells good to you and buy a few and light them when this happens and see if it helps.
