I think isolating oneself is also very easy in today's society. I mean, so many of us have jobs in cube farms where we communicate w/our cubical neighbors by email, we can order groceries & have them delivered, the mail comes to the house, bills can be paid online, paychecks & gov'ment checks are direct deposit, prescriptions can be refilled by phone... If I wanted to, I could almost go for 6 months w/out having to see another real, live person. And there are some times that I feel just like that - total complete reclusiveness.
