Electric-shock therapy has totally changed me, I'm so excited! I feel like a totally different person.

I'm finally outta the hospital, and I feel great. ECT saved my life

Really? If you mind me asking, how was the treatment? How did it exactly help?

Either way I'm glad you are feeling better

Wow Tao - that's incredible news! Congratulations! I was wondering where you went off to!

It would be great if you wanted to post your experiences... maybe in the Blog section?

Well, I was going to use the blog, but I couldn't remember my password, so I'm replying on here.

I was in the hospital for about a month, and they gave me 12 treatments. It messed with my memory a little, but started giving me results almost right away. It was amazing. Ask me anything, and I'll give you answers if I can. I'm a HUGE fan of ECT now.

I'd be willing to let them fry my brain if it would take away all memory and triggers! 12 treatments, wow... maybe it was a gentler ECT than I've heard of in year's passed! Have you been on a high for long? It's common right after getting released from hospital.. but I'm glad you're enjoying thngs now! Wishin you well ((tao)))

Hi, Tao!

Very happy for you that you feel good again. I've never met or spoken to anyone who has had ECT so your experience is very enlightening. If you don't mind my asking, was it painful at all or are you sedated for the procedure?

Thank you for sharing this with us!!

Thats great news Tao !!! ECT saved my Mom many years ago. I have always been interested in it - and while doing my internship at the Psych Hospital, I got to observe it many times. It was soooooooo great to see people have wonderful results !!! I know what you mean about your memory not being what it used to be, but that is part of the benefit for many ! My Mom doesnt remember hardly any of the 2 or 3 months prior to her treatments, none of her time in the hospital, but everything afterwards.......and returned to teaching about a week after her treatments. It will just keep getting better for you I am sure !

Azalysa - yes, you are sedated for the procedure, and I never saw anyone remember ANYTHING about the treatment itself . It is not painful.

The only pain is the very little pain of the injection to knock you out. It overwhelms and knocks you out very quickly. Not bad at all.
