I think now coming up on 2 weeks at the full dose, the meds are starting to work a little bit. I've been crying less.
I wonder what's realistic. I miss my husband so much. I still worry so much. I don't feel good, I just don't feel so hysterically sad. I feel like I'll probably be able to get through but that's about the height of it. thea |

That's great, that you are starting to see some improvement from the meds. And that's what I think is normal for a depression, lifting. You don't all of a sudden feel wonderful; it's a more gradual evolution of feeling better. And you were pretty darned sad, weren't you? So what you feel like now is an improvement. And it will get better from here. But probably so gradual you will have to think back to how sad you were to realize that you are significantly better when you are evaluating your progress.
From what I've read on depression, those of us who have multiple depressive episodes take longer to get over things than folks on maybe their first major depression. One site said that some researchers have identified changes in the brain in people with mutliple, recurrent major depressions. So maybe it makes it easier for us to fall back into depression and longer for us to come out of it. But the feeling is that we still can. I guess we have to focus on that and work for it. And take our meds. |

Hi Thea ~ That's great that it's starting to work. I'm really glad to hear it, because you were REALLY feeling quite bad. Now you will continue to feel better and better ~ it might take a little time, but it's worth the wait.
![]() Now, you'll be able to cope with the normal every-day things that usually cause us to fall into the pits of despair. I was usually good in a crisis -- but I couldn't handle the day to day living. ![]() Today I feel like I could handle anything - within reason. ![]() ![]() |

Hey Thea, I'm sorry I don't know your story, but despite the negative press depression meds sometimes receive, mine have been great, but like with you took a couple of weeks to work when I first started them. Things will get better
