There's a lot of songs I listen to when I'm depressed. I just really depends on which way my depression is going...whether I want to sulk with it or rage with it, or if I just need a song to make me feel better... Below are a some of the songs I listen to a lot when I'm depressed:
Skin by Sixx Am Are You With Me by Sixx Am Monster by Skillet Never Surrender by Skillet Sometimes by Skillet Sound Off by Trapt Here And Now by Seether What A Shame by Shinedown Breaking Inside by Shinedown Call Me by Shinedown The Energy by Shinedown ....there's probably more, but those are the ones I could remember right off. Those are some of the songs I connect to in some way when I am down. Hope it helps. |

I agree.... Music is great for different emotions. But, when I'm depressed I tend to listen to various artists. Too many to name... but, I have noticed my music taste does change when I'm depressed.
One artist in particular is Emilie Autumn. I've notice if I begin listening/obsess to her I'm heading into a deep depression. But, it's something about her music that I love and must listen to when I'm depressed. It's very hard to explain. JB

I love to listen to the blues and or moving soft rock songs. It doesn't make me more depressed; it actually comforts me. It's like it distracts me from total depression and makes me think of how beautiful and awesome the music I'm listening is.

I looooove music. I'm 40, so most of the songs I love are soul songs from the 60s and 70s and pop and rock music from the 80s. Instrumental music from any era usually calms and lightens my mood. One of my favourite soul songs is Al Johnson's "Different Lady" because it speaks of change and happiness.

when I get in my moods, I usually like to listen to something with a good strong beat, not too many words. depending on the thoughts i'm having, it's either some sort of electronic/dubstep, or classical (i like strings)

I tend to listen to specific songs depending upon my mood. When I'm depressed, it's usually "Until I Fall Away" by the Gin Blossoms or "Gideon" by My Morning Jacket. I have an eclectic mix of just about anything (except rap) so it can all change.

Give Jack Johnson and Donovan Frankenreiter a try. Their mello, surfer rock is relaxing.
I've found making playlists for events or moods therapeutic. I'm currently making a playlist to get over losing my heart. It's 57 tracks and growing... |

Very true I believe music is very helpful it helps me get my mind off everything and it helps me block out the voices in my head so music is very important to me.
I listen to Never Shout Never and Black Veil Brides when I'm depressed and, Brokencyde, dot dot curve, blood on the dance floor to block out voices. |
