Psychoanalyst Darian Leader discusses his views on madness and how to treat it in an RSA Event. If you are unfamiliar with RSA Events, see here: http://www.thersa.org/about-us

Dr. Leader equates madness with psychosis. His presentation is about three "essential" themes he elucidates in a book he wrote. He offers examples of the themes he discusses and is highly critical of current treatment strategies. That Dr. Leader is critical is not particularly unusual. His offer of alternatives to me is more unusual.

While I appreciated his presentation, he left me confused too. Leader stated psychology and neuroscience are distinct. He is very open about his disdain for neuroscience.

Yet, Leader also states psychosis develops very early on in a person. If psychosis does not develop early on it will not occur at all. Leader seems to be saying environment is not a source of psychosis. Should that be the case, why would neuroscience be unimportant?
