Hi, my name is John. I am a game-a-holic. I was also diagnosed with Aspergers as a child, and suffer from severe depression. I just don't know where to go, nobody seems to have a support group for my type of addiction... but trust me. It is just as addicting and hurtful to my life as alcoholism. I have lost friends, alienated family, and missed out on life. No more! Now is the time to quit. But... like all the other times before... Well trying not to be negative, but basically I've tried and failed hundreds of times.

Here is my blog. I am going to update it daily:

Hello there, John, and welcome to PC

I know you are struggling with your addiction, the misery of it is the same no matter if it's alcohol, drugs, gambling, or gaming. A couple of useful links:

http://www.olganon.org

http://www.video-game-addiction.org/

Gamers Anonymous, the first link there, have daily online meetings that you can attend to share with others, and they run a twelve step program too.

You may find that working through your addiction helps with your depression too.

Hey there, John. I'm a recovering alcoholic so understand the life-destroying paralysis of addiction. You're to be commended for recognizing & taking on the trouble you're in.

I know you're already on the addiction Forum here, but the sub-forum http://forums.psychcentral.com/forum...prune=100&f=90
generally includes gaming addiction. There's a thread there now. Not much action--but there may be more need for it than the small action reflects. You might try discussing it on the main forum & try driving comments to the sub-forum.

I sure wish you the best. If I can help any, feel free to PM me.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
