Does anyone have a problem with temper when taking Klonopin or Lamictal, or either of these drugs helping with a temper. I've been on Klonopin for several years so doubt that's the problem. I've only been on Lamictal two weeks and on lithium for a few months. I've had a problem with my temper for about a month. My last several visits with therapist have included talks about my coworker and my last visit she suggested my temper is related to that coworker which I believe it very well could be. I'm only on 0.5 mg of Klonopin twice a day. I've read where the maximum dose is 20 mg a day. I haven't called the doctor yet but appt is in 3 weeks. But right now I'm considering raising the Klonopin on my own to see if it will help with my temper. Does anyone think that's a good or bad idea? Thanks.

this question may be better addressed in the psychiatric medication section--there are some pretty good people that frequent that section who really know what they are talking about. just a suggestion...

I take Klonopin also and it makes me calm and somewhat sleepy. Since it's an anti-anxiety med I don't believe it's the culprit and you have been taking it for several years. Try looking up side effects on drugs.com. There's a lot of good information there and minor and severe side effects are listed.

The more you raise the klonopin the more you will need to take- you will develop a tolerance for each dosage and it will make you want to take more and more because it will lose its effectiveness after a while also causing anger and other side effects.

It is highly addictive and not good for you just like anything that you can become addicted to. DO NOT increase the dose ESPECIALLY on your own.

If possible, it is best to get off the quick anti-anxiety meds altogether.

Please see your pdoc for an appt to discuss and listen to what they have to say if they are reliable.

All the best.
