I think I may be depressed. I don't know for sure, don't have a diagnosis/therapist to diagnose me, so.

But for about 3 months now Ive just felt kind of... gone, I guess? I don't know exactly how to explain it. Since the beginning of my last school year (I'm just recently a HS graduate, so starting senior year) I've been losing interest in everything I used to enjoy. I don't read anymore which I used to love. Even bigger than that was my love of video games, but now... I just have no interest in them. I don't know how else to put it.

I want my old passion back. I feel so completely insincere in everything. I can't talk to my parents about this for various reasons (or maybe I just fear it, idk) so getting a therapist is kind of a last resort? I've considered calling a depression hotline, but... I don't know...

If it's at ALL possible, get into therapy! It's the best thing you can do for yourself. And please do it before the depression gets too serious. Believe me, you won't regret it.

If you can't afford therapy, at LEAST get in to see your medical doctor. He/she can help you. You want to get a handle on it before you get too terribly depressed.

I wish you the very best. I know how awful depression is -- I've been depressed since I was a child. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee

I would take the depression quiz that on the PC site, i will put the link at the end of this post. Then I would take that, regardless of the results, to your family doctor as a way to break the ice.

I totally agree with Leed, therapy can do wonders, my therapist has helped me more than any meds have but therapy does take time.

But the first step would be to talk to your doctor and get a referral to a good therapist and or psychiatrist. Also I would do a search for "face to face" peer support groups in your area, both DBSA and NAMI are national organizations that have support groups around the country in most areas.
