I prefer a female T. It is soo nice to have ONE relationship with a female IRL that I can trust and talk to about things without worrying about being judged, stabbed in the back, turned on, or gossiped about.

I am a female and I have no preference. I care whether or not they are good at their job. Any initial awkwardness I might have in discussing some topics with a male therapist goes away if he is good at his job and I myself am sincere in wanting to get better. That being said, I DO appreciate how important it is for one to choose their therapist on whatever terms are important to them. I know someone in therapy that prefers to work with a professional that has faith in God.

I haven't really got a preference. Like f.reliant says the main thing is that they are good at what they are doing. Not only that - what I find extremely important is that there is some connection and understanding between us.
I've had male and female therapists I got on with really well and male and female therapists I couldn't establish a connection with.

I am waiting for therapy and I asked for a female, I don't know why but I think I will feel more comfortable with a female.

I have had both female and male therapists. I guess generally I do prefer a female but it really depends on how good of a therapist they are. I have a great therapist and she is a female. But if she was a male and still a great therapist I would keep going.
