I have been seeing my Psychiatrist and going to group therapy but I don't feel that I am getting better. This week has been extremely difficult due to some health issues and financial issues. I don't have anyone to talk to. In group, I feel that a few people dominate the entire hour and a half. I have left messages for my psychiatrist that told her I wanted to change to individual therapy but my calls have not been returned. I am feeling very hopeless and extremely tired of fighting life. Anyone have any suggestions for where I can turn to for help?

Hi. I'm so sorry that you're going through all this....it all sounds so difficult. I know sometimes it can be so hard to find the therapist or other clinician where the fit is just right. I've been there. (And btw....I've also been in a therapy group where the exact thing happened that you describe here, and it made me crazy.) But for any Psychiatrist not to return a patient's phone calls....that just doesn't seem right at all. If you're feeling bad, and kind of on the edge....do you live in a county that has a Mental Health Department....most counties do, sometimes with another name. Possibly Health and Human Services or something similar to that (should be listed in the "Government" section of your phone book). They usually have therapists available to talk to on some basis, or at least might be able to make suggestions. Don't know just how bad you're feeling, but it's an idea anyway. Sending good thoughts.....
