So most of us know how depression causes loss of interest, well I have that to like the extreme. I like doing very few things...mostly video games. I don't know how to explain it, but I have this thing where if somebody starts talking to someone else about how they just love doing something and are so interested in it, and that thing is something I happen to like, then I immediately lose interest in it completely.

For example, I liked working on making this fighting game. Then, at work my supervisor starts talking about how she loves doing all these fighting moves and learning all these secret arts of meditation and whatnot. I know this sounds really corny, but the characters in my game are very involved with all these styles such as shotokan, ninjitsu, and muay thai. So I don't know why but I lost all my interest in my game now. I don't think I will ever finish it.

This sort of thing has happened throughout my life, though. And even though I hate giving specific examples because I feel really bad about it, I decided no one will really know what I'm talking about unless I do, so that's what I did there. But yes, it has happened before, and sometimes in different ways. Sometimes it will be the opposite where if someone tells me I shouldn't do something, then I have to do it. It really bothers me and I hate it. I hate my life so much.

I don't know if I made any sense to anyone, but that is my best explanation.

I'm not sure why someone else liking an activity would cause a loss of interest. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, just that I haven't experienced it. Maybe someone else will chime in with an answer. But I do often experience someone telling me not to do something, then wanting to do it. For me, it may just be plain old stubborness. At least that's what my husband tells me.

I have had that happen to me a bit. I think I just wanted to be different or unique so when someone else liked whatever it was it wasn't different any more and I didn't like it anymore. It doesn't happen to me any more so I hope that it will stop for you too. Good Luck and I think you ought to finish the game. Sounds like it would be a good one and I don't like video games.
