A few days ago I found myself looking at the roof of a building wondering what it would be like if I jumped and if anyone would miss me or not. Then i realized my depression was getting worse and that i have to do something about it. I cant talk to anyone i know at least not yet. I think but talking to others who know what i am going though would be best. My mom would just ask questions i cant answer yet like "Why are you depressed?" I tried talking about it once but it didnt seem to matter. Mabey by explaining how I feel to you then one day i will be ready to tell them.

Welcome to PC!!!!! By expressing your feelings here is the first step in a right direction, feel free to tell us how you feel, you will understand yourself more by letting it out, in turns you can tell your family. We all here to support/comfort each other.

I understand how you feel. Answering those questions can be tough when you don't even know the answers yourself. It is a very courageous thing to tell your friends and family about this. Good luck!
My advice to you is to do so at your own pace. Perhaps you can set up an appointment with a T (therapist) as well.

I've never known why I was depressed. . . and I'm going on 20 years of figuring it out. Sometimes there just isn't an answer to that question.

Are you still in school? Is there a counsellor there that you can talk to? Sometimes an impartial adult can help you figure out how to talk to your parents.

Keep posting your thoughts here. There is lots of support available here.

Hi there all im depressed and suffer panic attacks i have reasons 4 this and it starts with my past, not talking is hard u cant get advice and answers u find may help from within u i struggle most days with p. Attacks i fear the unknown and dont trust any strangers i find it hard 2 talk face 2 face with any1, i wud rather listen thanks 4 all advice and help tips. How awful it is when u have no support, u only get support if and when ur ready 2 talk 2 sum1 u trust enough real friends stand by u thru and thru

Sometimes trying to get family to understand can take away the little energy you have and can even create more anxiety and depression. That was my case with my family.
I remember my mom would keep saying "you'd better get up get such and such done. You'd better this, you'd better that. As if it's so easy to get things done when you can't even get out of bed to take a shower. At some point I just realized that they didn't understand and I couldn't spend what little energy I had trying to get them to understand.
Luckily, I was in school and had access to free therapy. I just concentrated on working on myself and would just give vague answers to family members so I didn't keep getting advice that didn't help.

I absolutely understand. regardless of whether I'm talking to other alcoholics or people suffering from depression, I still feel alone, as if no one REALLY understands what this is like. all we can do is hold one another's hand and keep trying to work ourselves out. I have no clever sayings or inspirational messages for you, but I think it's good to hold on, because tomorrow could surprise you with something amazing. hang tight.
