I got a 62 on the depression quiz I took here. Now I am considering seeing a doctor but I am not sure what to do. I have heard there are some legit doctors that work thru the internet can anyone tell much about that?

Im not sure about this, having never done it myself. I would hate to think that you would reveal personal information to someone who wasnt trained. Please be careful

Hi,

I did try this a couple of times. Yes, there are some legitimate counselors who work on the internet. I found it somewhat helpful, but after a couple of exchanges, I realized it wasn't helping me as much as I wanted....I really wanted more support, and I needed to be able to speak to somebody face-to-face and have that form of direct support. The online counseling was helpful to limited degree for me, but my experience was that it wasn't as helpful as forming a relationship with a counselor in person.

At least with the online counseling service I used, you wrote a journal entry and submitted it for a fee. It was suggested that you keep to one topic. Then you had to wait for a day or two to get a reply. The replies I got were very kind and helpful, but it was a slow way to do counseling when it was a hard time in my life. In a face-to-face counseling session, you are able to talk more freely, and the counselor is able to interact with you right away. Sometimes this is really beneficial if you are having urgent problems. I know it has been for me.

That was my experience, but other folks might have other information to share about it.

Take care,
ErinBear

Personally, I would take this up with a "real live" doc in the "3D",actually I would take anything in regards to a health or mental health problem/issue, with a RL doc.
Even veterinary stuff, for my dogs, I'd go to a RL vet.
It's okay, to read different things, google, wikky, etc. but not for DXing.
But this is my own personal opinions.

I do not think it is something one should venture in. You'd miss out on all the non-verbal communication - which is very important to a client-therapist relationsip. This face to face relationship is much more different, in-depth and effective in terms of therapeutical purposes.

Not to mention there might be charlatans out there... thus so much more difficult for a potential client to appraise a potential therapist and/or their qualifications..

I don't think it is the route to go.... I like the one on one.... having someone available to get you through the tough times....Good luck......Some T's after you establish with them will do home visits..... For some who can't leave the confines of their homes this really works......
