I don't want to talk to my family anymore.
Because when I say something, I never get to finish, my family will cut my speech. They don't listen to what I say, and talk before I get to finish. Or when I finish saying something, they will change topic. I think it's very rude. But they don't seems to have a problem. It really hurts. I am upset about it, but they think it's my problem. I don't have such issue, when I talk to other people. I feel very hurt. |

My family is like this, too. Have you told them how you feel? Most people aren't aware of what they're doing and don't typically consider the possibility that they might be being rude. I'm one of those people that when I talk to someone, I maintain eye contact and I've recently taken to being more assertive and letting my point be known and making sure I'm heard.

Point out what they are doing, and how it makes you feel, and change the topic back.

My family was the same way. Unless you got loud and dramatic they didn't listen. Frustrating!

When they do that, just SAY "wait a minute --- I wasn't done!!" Then continue with what you were saying. But make SURE they hear you!! And do that EACH TIME they interrupt you when you're talking. After awhile, they'll get the message.
That's incredibly RUDE to do that to someone, and they probably do it to everyone, without knowing. They've done it so often, they don't realize what they're doing. I'm sure they tick off everybody. Maybe if you "teach" them, they'll stop doing it. ![]() Good luck -- I've had people do that to me too, and I hate having to "teach" the, but darn it -- WE have something to say too! God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee ![]()
