i have been suffering from what i would deem depression for about five years now, (since I was 8) and it hasnt been diagnosed. I would consider it depression because I've read everything about it, and I seem to have a lot of the symptons. I've been seeing a psychologist for two years, on and off, and she keeps refusing to actually DIAGNOSE anything. Is this just the standard thing with 'children' or what? I get the feelinf that they aren't doing anything to really help because they dont belive theres really anything wrong. What should I do?

I'm sure it's practice not to share diagnosis with children, there's too much emotionality and overacting, and general reactions and misunderstanding with doing that, imo. Why not talk with your mum about this?

I did! She told me that the psychologist told her that I wasnt actually depressed, because it wasnt that bad, or something, which conviently forgets the whole suicidal thing

It's hard to tell... since no one was in session with you. How much did you and your T discuss your suicidality? Did the T tend to express any ideas of attention seeking behavior towards you? Perhaps if you keep a diary you can detect when your sadness becomes worse, and see if it occurs after a disagreement with your mom or school friends? TC!
