The vast majority of therapies and therapists focus on those two things: either promoting self-image or improving external circumstances.

That's not my problem and everything I've tried has been very unsuccessful.

Sometimes therapist can see through what we think is the problem and see the real the problem. Even if you think your depression is not caused by life issues therapy is still essential to recovery. Are you on meds too? The combination of both is usually helpful.

Sometimes I feel sad without any reason... and T would go "what are you sad about?" which I can't answer...

so I get what you mean..

(welcome to PC by the way!)

I would challenge your statement..... You say it is not *caused* by anything. I would say unless you can prove to me what IS causing your depression - then you can not exclude any issue from being the cause of all this fun (roll eyes).

Everyname, I have come to the conclusion that there are two kinds of depression. The first kind is chemical, and there isn't a thing you can do about that one except take medication. The second kind is situational, and talk/journaling does help that one. Sounds like you may be in chemical depression. All you can do is hang in there, and take your medicine.
Thanks for this!

Catsrhelm, said just about everything, though I think even if it is chemical, therapy can help especially though the bad times. Because, when we are depressed, it makes it hard to cope or make decisions and therapt can help us talk through those issues.

Yeah, but none of the drugs I've taken have had any effect at all, much less a noticeably positive one.

I guess so, but I almost never have difficulty coping with things.

I CAN do things perfectly fine and do so when absolutely necessary; I just don't really want to.
