Lately I've been lying in bed all day and not taking showers regularly. I think my mom can tell something is up because my room is in a mess. I don’t have the energy doing the things I enjoyed. Sometimes make plans ahead of time to do something fun but I never follow through. I try to make my bed every day but doing that is tiring. I’m starting to feel like a slob but my question how do I stay motivated?

its hard, if you are depressed. I suggest therapy if you aren't in it already. As for motivation, going through the motions helps. Its really important to not isolate, as that only makes things worse. I find that it helps to have a plan... keeping a schedule can keep life moving.

I like the advice Miswimmy gave. It's about doing one thing, then one more thing. Today just take a shower. Then go outside and sit for a while. IF you have a pet spend some time with it.
It's important to get help. Depression is difficult to handle all alone. You need someone to talk to. Maybe you need a little medication. There are things you can do to feel better. Look up the article s on this site. This doesn't take a lot of energy and can help get your mind involved wirh something useful.
Just please don'f give up. Is there a counselor at school you can approach? Call a help line and talk to someone about your life.
Post here as often as you need to and we'll try to help.
I hope you feel better soon.

Keeping a schedule on paper has been helping me a bit. Now I don't this everyday but I've managed to look presentable and clean my room.

Thanks again for your help.
