Wow, I sympathize with everyone now who ever said to me that their back hurt. My back hurts. My hobby is gardening and now, oh my, it hurts.
I've talked to my Nurse Practitioner and my Psychologist about it. My NP won't give my anything for it. She says we have to expect back pain as we age. I don't know. Why do we have to suffer with something that can easily be resolved? I can't take any of the anti-inflammatories because they hurt my stomach so much and I'm already dealing with reflux. I know the only other thing is to use something like Tylenol #3. I really feel that my NP won't give these because of my mental illness. She's afraid that I might use them to over-dose. I won't. I just want some pain relief so that I can garden and do normal house-keeping chores without being in pain. I see my psychiatrist next week. I'm very shy, but will try to talk to him about it.

A cruel irony. Gardening helps keep you stable. Refusing you meds that would make it easier for you to garden could contribute to the very instability your nurse practitioner fears.

Thinking of you and hoping you can discuss this effectively with your psychiatrist!

Hopefully you are having a temporary flair of back pain - otherwise known as lumbar strain. Tramadol is a non-narcotic that works well for pain management ... just one idea. Hope you find some relief ... and peace.
Thanks for this!

I'm so sorry you are in this fix. I suffered from back pain for many years and I know how limiting it can be. I am lucky to live in a country with alternative forms of medicine. I took an aryuvedic treatment which uses plants and other natural ingredients for massage oils and tonics. I took a massage treatment with oils for two weeks and my pain has been gone for the most part for some years. Maybe there is some form of alternative medicine available to you. Yoga can help, homeopathy has good remedies with no side effects and acupuncture might help.
I hope you are able to continue gardening. I understand that it is very important to you.
Good luck.
