I don't think I do. I used to when I was younger but as I've aged and withdrawn from getting close to people I find I'm not as empathic as I wish I could be at times. My depression seems to cloud everything including empathy.

Yes. More specifically, I "catch other people's emotions" and automatically assume personal responsibility for those emotions. This trait (is it a trait or family-related social programming or both or neither?) can cause all sorts of grief and dysfunction.
