I have suffered from major depression for 25 years and have been on 15 different medications since 1990. I am finally going to do this. I had my appointment with a second psychiatrist for a second opinion, as was required, and he gave the go ahead. I really am not nervous. I am aware of all the risks. I believe the benefit, it if works for me, will be worth the risks. I was just wondering if other people have had ECT as a "last resort treatment" and how did it work for you and what side effects did you experience? Thanks

I had ECT done about 4 years ago and I had no luck. I am still dealing with my depression and I have times when my depression is pretty bad.
I hope your treatment goes well. |

I have had responded to other threads in the depression forum about my experiences with ECT. Short answer- it did not have any positive effect on my depression but lrad to major long, long term and short term memory and concentration issues. Good luck to you. Everyone responds differentlt so I hope it works for you.
