A friend visited from up north for just under 48 hours. It was nice to see her and hang out, but now she is gone and it's suddenly lonely and really quiet. I think both my wife and I are in that post-visit dip in depression... sucks. We miss our friends and family from up north so much, that sometimes a short visit ends up causing such sadness. She's the only one to actually follow-though on visiting us, though almost everyone said they would come down. I know money is a factor, but they don't even initiate contact. Gotta love being out-of-sight, out-of-mind... Just confirms how little I feel about myself. At least my wife has friends and family who call her.

I know that you miss your family and friends and that you are both feeling down about your friend going back home but you have to make the best of your lives wherever you are living. If you are both lamenting all the time your lives are passing you by. You are lucky that you have each other and I know that family and friends are so important but I am sure you both have made friends where you are living now. I wish you both the very best.

That's familiar.

I do not blame the people who have faded out of my life. They have their own lives and I'm the one with significant limitations. I would not want to become a weight they would have to bear. What's encouraging to me is that I do have one old friend from the past who does give me a call every once in a while.

Here's hoping new friends will appear and at least one of the old will reappear...
