Hello & Welcome, Foreveryoung95.

Back in the days when I had friends, or at least coworkers, for the most part they treated me politely, but also with suspicion and and some mistrust.

I maintain a policy of need-to-know on publicizing my illness.

Hello there.

I recently lost all of my friends due to my mental/physical illnesses. Maybe I am bitter, or maybe I have seen truth after it happened. Those who are true friends would be willing to understand and support. Those who aren't, are cowardly friends. If you feel like they are treating you like this constantly, please take care of yourself and tell them how you feel. I know friends acting like this makes us feel more isolated and it's awful.

Many hugs to you.

No, because nobody knows I'm depressed. I never reveal that to friends. Ever

In high school I had some friends make fun of me behind my back. They didn't really know how depressed I was. I overheard one of them say something like he is probably going to kill himself one day. He was joking about it and I can't remember what exactly he said.

well needless to say I was hurt by it. Being really depressed, ashamed of it, and dealing with a lot of stuff at the time. Not to mention a couple of attempts that none of them knew about.

I tend to hide how I am feeling from everyone.

If they treat you badly then they truly aren't your friends. A friend will be there no matter what you are going through !

Our friends cant understand what we are going through. When I was first hospitalised I lost all of my friends at the time. I was very hurt but now I understand that they just didnt get it and were not true or mature enough friends for what I needed at that time. I found new friends and although many of my friends come and go I havent given up on having them. I know I let down my end of the bargain when I am ill so when I am stable again I make an effort to be in their lives.

No, I still have the same friend I had before I had my first breakdown. She and I have been friends since grade school. I have two other friends that I have made since. I've only had one person that was rather rude about it and acted like it was something I could snap out of if i wanted to, needless to say, she is not on my friend list. I'm lucky in the friend department.

Always be a friend to yourself, others will learn from your example.
