I am a couple of months into a severe depressive episode and some days are better than others. I feel like i am falling now and trying not to rely too much on friends who have their own problems....just need a bit of support!

You have come to the right place for support. I'm sure your friends are glad to help, but you can always share here. I understand, I've been depressed since last fall. I think I may be starting to feel a little better. A change in meds can either help a lot or hurt a lot, but it seems we may have found one that is working. I, too, have friends I could lean on but they don't understand the way that people on here do. So just keep posting, It's the way you get to know everyone.

Hi, I agree that support is very important as well. Smart you! It would not be in your best interest to always remain at battle on your own and I hope for you to be comfortable. Perhaps getting a better idea of how to cope with stress will help you, so I'm leaving you the link Stress Management, Coping with Stress ![]() |

Clarehay, everyone here is very supportive. Please just keep posting and we'll be there for you. I know depression is hell, but there is always hope. I was in a pit of despair until the right combo of meds has recently lifted me out of the depression after about 2-1/2 months.

Hi all. Thank you for your replies. I notice that two of you are bipolar
The GP thinks I may have this too but that we should monitor my moods for a bit. The depression is so painful. What does mania feel like to you guys? I am interested to know if it is similar to what I experience....x |

what do you experience? perhaps if you want you can start a thread in the bipolar forum about it.... probably a better place to ask a question about mania |

Well....my mind races and i only sleep 4 hours a night and i never sit down and i take on so many things that i cannot then keep up with when i am 'normal' and certainly not when i am depressed! When i can barely function at all. sometimes i am happy manic...laughing and centre of the party, and sometimes i am not happy but very anxious and stressed...does any of this sound familiar?

Also all the colours are more vivid when 'manic'and also the mania and the depression taste and smell different...

Like you said, I feel like I could take on anything. Definitely the center of attention where ever I was. Hyper sexual. Taking on too many things at one time. Little sleep, always ready to start my day. I'm sure there is a lot more. I just can't remember them, I haven't been manic in quite some time. I'm mainly derpressed and they can't get me out of it. I've been this way for nine months and then Bipolar 1 mixed episode, in which i was too irritable to be around.
