I think something exciting might lift my depression somewhat. It would be nice to have something to do on the weekends. The only thing is I have no transportation right now and I live in a isolated area. There's not much in the way of excitement here. So what can you do for excitement? Does anyone have suggestions? Remember, no transportation.

No, I have no friends and there's no theater near by. I've seen enough movies anyway.

No transportation? Not even... a broom?

(Sorry, I saw your Salem location, Halloween's coming - this is how rumors get started!)

Rake the leaves, rake the neighbor's leaves, make a huge pile of leaves...

Haha wrong Salem though. The witch trials were in Mass and not N.H. Still, being a witch would be awesome. But no, no transportation.

Yes, I should rake the leaves but I like to let them go for a bit. Let them really cover the ground first.
Thanks for this!

Geography and history were both always my worst subjects! This time I hit them both!

I basically have no transportation either. My usual buses don't run on the weekend so I can't see taking an hour to get somewhere. It kinda sucks.

Hop the bus to Boston, (from there you could even do a day trip to nyc and walk around manhattan, central park, Rockefeller Center etc---I've done this)
check the papers or on line for what is happening for free or otherwise...wander, take photos, take a harbor cruise...find a nightclub even, whatever you like...
Even just play like a kid a Canobie Lake, visit "America's Stonehenge" if you haven't worn that stuff out. Bet there are some good hiking trails...

I agree about the pet. My kitties are the only things that bring me joy.

Sometimes it can be quite exhilarating to just go for a run or a walk in the countryside and let loose. The combination of being at one with nature and feeling your heart beating can make you feel so alive. Have a shower after you get in, get comfortable and watch a movie you like. Treat yourself

Is transportation in the future for you at all?

I would like to make more friends to do stuff with. My husband usually will go along with what I'd like to do but somehow he seems satisfied in just going to work and coming home and watching tv. (he is a workaholic)

I don't have any friends. Now it's Halloween and I don't have anywhere to go either.

I like the way they look when you let them go for a bit. And also the crunch under your feet.

I'm in a similar position right now. Isolated, stuck in a small town, no transportation... it's hard finding excitement.

Video games used to help me. Then I grew bored of those. Now, I try to find events near by to attend. But it only works if I can walk to them or hop on a bus. If your town/city has an event paper, it might be worth looking at it.

Finding a new hobby sometimes helps. I'm trying origami. It's not exciting, but it at least keeps my mind off lack of excitement for a while.

Yeah, I looked but no real events here. I have lots of hobbies but I'm pretty tired of them all.

I like this idea...whenever I am stuck it helps me to check out some new crafts to learn. youtube videos are really good, you can learn to cut your own hair, or grow a sweet potato vine in your kitchen or you can learn paper mache or painting techniques....all kinds of stuff. the finished project doesn't have to be perfect (some people might disagree when it comes to hair though....) but learning to do something new can be fun. hope you can find something fun to do!!
