I noticed that some years my depression is worse then others, and I can go 2 to 3 years with no depression, then get whacked good. I also noticed no matter when, it seems to be the worse in fall and winter. I was wondering if any one else notice any kind of long term pattern like me?

I'm seasonal too. I only have depression in the winter and I just can't seem to get out of it until spring comes around. Would that be considered long term?

I have no idea. All I know is I am totally weird. I can go baseline for 1 to 3 years some times! then when I think it was all a bad dream, it hits me. And it's always worse for me in the fall and winter.

Are you still on your antidepressants? They might need to be increased and I recommend going to gym as a natural way of dealing with depression. I've been going as often as possible and it's keeping my depression at bay.

Actually the gym does help and I go thru my athletic fazes too! The problem is I also have social and general anxiety too and it's always the worse with my depression and that's where I'm at now. I can feel on top of the world one minute, but I know it won't last very long then I fall and feel totally worthless, paranoid, and shell shocked. I am on meds. I am getting help just totally thrown by the irregularity of my episodes.

i can not understand how anyone COULD like fall/winter. You are constantly reminded of negatives.... trees look dead, skys are always cloudy and grey. Everything is crap for months.

I hate winter and that time going into winter.

I have seasonal affective disorder and go through depression 4 seasons each year. My husband loves winter, one thing i can't understand either. I hate snow and being cold, cold is the worst part. i usually get one flu a year usually in the winter months too.Good luck to everyone this year, i'll pray for myself and all of us who can't handle winter too.

Yeah def. Once the clocks go back ( this weekend i think) it's downhill all the way. Then it's Christmas. If there's anything that reminds you that you are alone and lonely its Christmas. I hate it.

I'm the opposite, I'm much more depressed during the Spring and Summer. The Spring hits and I find I am tired all the time, I get physically ill and dizzy more often, and I generally feel gross because of the heat. In the Fall and Winter I feel that the weather is refreshing and cozy.

Yep. Definitely seasonal. My depression always comes on in October, even though I love Halloween. It peaks about February, which is when it's coldest here. But I also experience something else...like a depression clock. It seems that my baseline is always sort of depressed, but even when I am not especially depressed, my mood is always the worst in the morning. I experience a slight improvement around lunch time, feel depressed again at about three, and then begin to feel better around evening. As always, I wonder what on earth is wrong with me? ......
