I'm new to the forums so hello everybody.

I'm here looking for advice. I have had clinical depression for about two years now and it's really starting to get on top of me. To the point I found it hard to get out of bed.

I consider myself to be a smart creative person but I never seem to do anything anymore. I don't even wash or shave unless I have to be some where. For the last few mouths I have just been lying around all day as I don't have the energy for anything!

I have been on SSRIs for sometime now and they help but not to the extent that I need.

I have no job because of my because of my various conditions and I fear I will lose my home soon unless I do something about this.

I feel like a lot of my depression stems from my inability to do anything. I have no motivation what so ever and I don't know what do do about that.

I went to my GP today to ask for advice about treating my fatigue and asked about medications like modafinil and he told me that it wouldn't be suitable for me. Instead he just sent me to get a pile of bloods done, I didn't feel he was taking me seriously.

I'm really at my wits end. I'm willing to try just about anything in order to help me. So advice is welcome!

gundown. Glad you found PC. I'm sorry you are having such a bad time with depression. Me, too. I can empathize with you. I, too, have been on so many SSRIs I've lost count. I would suggest that you see a psychatrist, though. They are more capable of prescribing other medications that work on depression other than just SSRIs. There are some meds that used with SSRIs that really help. There are a lot of combinations.
I know this because I've tried many of them. I've just had mine changed again and am hoping for the best. I'm bipolar but it has been nine months stuck in the depressive end.

And ,too depression can make you not feel like doing anything. I don't have any motivation either. So sometimes if you cure the depression you cure the motivational issue.

Good luck to you.

hi gundown. I feel alot like you do. I'm with gayleggg, a therapist would be better at helping you. but it seems like a good thing that you are getting some blood work done, if for no other reason than to rule everything else out. having low thyroid can cause depression and there are probably other things that would do that too. I have low thyroid and the medicine did not cure my depression but it does help.

Agree with Marla and Gaylegg. A professional that specifically deals with mental health will be of far better benefit to you than your G.P. Your current ad is obviously not working as well as it could or maybe its not the right one for you. Best wishes.

I don't mean to start a furious debate on the pros and cons of water fluoridation, but what kind of water are you drinking? (tap water, purified water, bottled water, etc.) The purity of your drinking water could have an effect on your entire endocrine system which could affect your mood profoundly. I've read clinical reports where patients improved simply by switching to water purified via reverse osmosis.

I'm currently looking for a psychiatrist. I think I'm in need of one.

I'm not sure my meds are working.
Currently I'm on 100mg of Sertraline Actavis a day. It seemed to be working a lot more for me when I first started using it (about a year ago).

I missed it for the first time a few days ago and I seemed to have way more energy then normal!

I kind of want to try not using it for a few days and see how I feel but I'm not sure if that is safe.
